I left the serenity of Joshua Tree yesterday for an overnight at Barbara and Jeanne’s BLM spot near Ehrenberg, then moved on to Quartzsite today for laundry duty. After all that lovely peace and quiet, I was feeling a bit petulant toward the crowds and traffic that continue to clog Quartzsite.
I moved on to Yuma, stopping for a working lunch at this scenic spot on US 95.

I'm overnighting at the Quechan Paradise Casino
among a massive flock of snowbirds.
I opted for this casino when I saw it is just off Penitentiary Avenue – which sounds a little exciting and dangerous, but not too much.
Turns out, Penitentiary Avenue is the route for visiting the Yuma Territorial Prison Historical Site. Oh well. Maybe next time I can deliver some blog-worthy drama.
I’m looking forward to joining my road trip gang at their gathering spot but I’ve been battling a cold for the past 5 days and don’t want to spread infection. (Nurses aren’t supposed to do that. I learned that in school).
I’m hoping these rather mild symptoms will be outta here tomorrow or the next day. I'm ready to join my friends but also ready to discontinue the decongestants that are making me a tad loopy.
Meanwhile, there is shopping here! And it's winter so ... I need to visit the thrift stores for some summer clothing. You know, just like this summer I had to visit the thrift stores for winter clothing.
